Church of the Transfiguration and on the right the Church of the Intercession |

Smaller church adjacent - Church of the Intercession |
These churches were built entirely nail-free by local peasants in 1714. The Aspen shingles shimmer and change color with the day's light spreading over 22 domes. A story about a Nazi pilot returned 60yrs later after World War II who disobeyed orders from Hitlzer's regime to destroy the church. Adjacent to this magnificent site of the Church of the Transfiguration is a smaller church, the Church of the Intercession that displays nine domes.
